Designer Manuela-Federica Krebser was born in 1964 in Thun, Switzerland, to swiss-italian parents. Her mother is the famous novellist Federica de Cesco. Manuela-Federica Krebser graduated at the «Kunstgewerbeschule Bern» (School for Arts in Berne) in 1985. Since her earliest childhood she passionately designed repeats of ornaments and patterns with the ambition to later become a designer for unique high-end projects. At the early age of 16 she received a letter of encouragement from Leila Menchari, Director of the decorative Service at HERMES SELLIER in Paris, to persue her very special talent.
Manuela first worked for swiss textile manufacturers such as Christian Fischbacher and Fabric Frontline. She then founded «iSHONi» in 1996, a design brand for exclusive, luxurious and personalized design products. During all those years, she began designing a wide variety of different product lines such as towels, scarves, ties, ceramics and stationaries for international manufacturers and private companies. Soon, she also personaly supervised the production chaines and manufacturing teams in Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic. Her clients entered renowned department stores with iSHONi collections, such as Harrods in London. Although she continued to design for licencees such as Mark's Inc. in Tokyo and Baumgartner Papiers in Lausanne, Manuela-Federica Krebser established a very close relationship with her manufacturering partners. The collaboration with Porzellanfabrik Langenthal remained alive during more than 15 years. She specialized in market targeted design solutions which face successfully the international competition. She works closely with the marketing and communication departments of her clients to ensure the most accurate product development, which not only includes the design, but also the manufacturing of the product along all of its aspects such as budget, timing, target, quality and distribution.
Manuela-Federica Krebser currently designs for many companies, associations and multinationals such as Nestlé, AGFA, UEFA, FIFA, UNO, SBB and the IOC. She became internationnally known with her outstanding design rugs which are regularly displayed at the Domotex show in Hannover, and sold in more than 25 countries worldwide. Paul Champman, Vice Chairmen and President of the famous New York Home-Fashion Store ABC Carpet & Home says about her work: «Her dedication to the Rug Design Industry is bar none. Ms Krebser's design work is known worldwide and she holds the highest respect among her peers».
The signature lines for her clients are first established as very realistic «sketches». As an avid photographer, Manuela-Federica Krebser often also shoots the press photos of her products. She dares the unusual balance between art and business and sees her creative work as a «service» to her clients and not as «art» - despite the fact that her designs are often compared to Versace or Hermes. Her challenge always stays the client's briefing. Manuela speaks German, French, English, and Italian and is a member of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce.
Since 2008, Manuela-Federica Krebser is the bearer of the Green Card for extraordinary abilities from the United States of America. For her contribution in 3-D Design she won the famous Grand Prix 2010 by the prestigious japanese magazine StereoSound, which is one of the world's most prestigious HiFi Award.
Manuela-Federica lives between Athens, Geneva and New York. In 2011, she signed the scarve-and tie-collection «Les Merveilles du Monde», especially created and designed for Nestlé worldwide.
